From the history of the faculty
The Department of Food Technology is a structural unit of the educational, scientific, educational and administrative structure of the Polytechnic Institute of the Tajik Technical University named after academician M.S. Osimi in the city of Khujand. The Department of Food Technology was founded in August 2022. (based on the Department of Food Products and Agricultural Technology).
From the beginning of its creation, experienced teachers worked at the department, such as c.c.s., Associate Professor Zh.M. Azimov, professor I.A. Saidaminov, c.t.s., Associate Professor R.I. Bobokhojaev, senior teacher c.t.s. Asatulloev I.A., c.t.s. Negmatulloeva R.N., senior teacher Rakhimova M.R., senior teacher Shaipova Sh., who did a lot of work to train highly qualified specialists in the field of the food industry.

Main activities of the department
The activities of the Department of Food Technology are mainly aimed at training highly qualified engineers, researchers and competitive entrepreneurs who meet the requirements of the domestic and international labor market.
The goal of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology is to ensure sustainable development and fulfill the country's strategic goals for the development and acquisition of new knowledge, innovative ideas and their implementation in coordination with scientific research, the learning process and labor market demand.
It should be noted that the learning process at the faculty is regulated in accordance with the training plan based on the requirements of the State Standard of Higher Professional Education and other regulations.
Department of “Food Product Technology” is the leading department for training specialists in specialties 1-490101 - Technology of storage and processing of food plant raw materials; 1-490102 - Technology of storage and processing of food animal raw materials; 1-910101 - Production of products and organization of public catering, in the areas Bachelor's and Master's degrees, also graduates PhD students in the specialty 6D072700 - “Food Technology”.
The scientific, scientific, technical and innovative activities of the department are implemented in scientific, research centers, laboratories, its structural divisions and beyond by teaching staff, undergraduates, doctoral students and students.
The teaching staff of the department is 13 people, of which: 2 doctors of science, 1 professor, 7 candidates of science, 2 teachers.

The department provides training in the basics of food production technology, processes and changes that occur during their production, as well as the rules of their storage, transportation and delivery, modern methods of quality control, safety assurance, product compliance with international requirements of HACCP and Global GAP, state standards, etc. In the educational process, teachers use modern teaching methods, new and advanced technologies for teaching students.
The achievements of the department's professors are significant. Over the past 5 years, teachers of the department have prepared 4 monographs, 2 textbooks and teaching aids in agreement and recommendations of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, more than 50 textbooks and teaching aids, 5 (2) Scopus articles, more than 300 international, republican and university articles, including in magazines, in all lists of the Higher Attestation Commission there are more than 100 units. The substantiation of the results of research work of the department's teachers has been introduced into production.
The department conducts a large number of research projects in the area of food processing projects, enriching them with useful nutrients, issues of their quality and safety, instructions for processing and technology of functional products, etc.
Teachers of the department have certificates of intellectual property and patents; over the past 5 years, teachers of specialized departments have received 5 patents, which are the results of research work of teachers of the department.
Every year the department holds scientific seminars, round tables, meetings with manufacturers, at which not only teachers and staff, but also students and masters present the results of their scientific work.
Teachers regularly undergo advanced training under state and international programs such as Erasmus, GIZ, HECAFS, etc.
The department’s connection with regional public and private enterprises is very close, and students undergo training to master professional skills at such enterprises as: Khujand Cannery, Obi Zulol, Elite, Yakhmosi 33, GOSTSTANDART, Correct, Fayzi Rasul, Sakho, Komron-agro -holding, Zoda, Dusti Alisher, Temuriyon, Arshi Somon and others.
Since 2016, the department has been collaborating with two international programs GIZ and HECAFS; within the framework of this program, the department’s laboratories are equipped with a number of modern testing equipment and consumables. Under these programs, teachers and students made business trips to Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and the Baltic countries in order to improve their skills. As part of these programs, it is planned to exchange experience between teachers. According to these programs, with the permission of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, changes have been made to the plans and programs of work for undergraduate and graduate programs of the department, taking into account international requirements.
On the eve of the New Year 2023, Independent Accreditation and Rating Agency (IAAR - member of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education), an educational program was launched in the specialty “1-490101 - “Technology of storage and processing of food raw materials”. This specialty has received a certificate of international accreditation.
International accreditation lays the foundation for widespread integration into the global educational space and entry into the foreign market of educational services, and also provides a new opportunity to obtain objective information about untapped opportunities, potential and development prospects.
It should be noted that the assessment of the educational program of the specialty “1-490101 - “Technology of storage and processing of food raw materials” and the assignment of international accreditation to it was carried out and issued by the “Independent Accreditation and Rating Agency”. (NAAR).
